South Korean Autonomous Car Successfully Drives and Parks

After over a 100 test runs, a Korean team from LG U+, Hanyang University, and manufacturing company Controlworks has successfully been able to test a self-driving and parking system. The driver chose the parking spot for the car through a mobile app, which also includes a feature that shows the current location of the autonomous car. Once it was parked, the mobile app would send a notification that tells the driver that the parking was successful.

This autonomous car also had quick processing measures that allowed it to notify the user to change directions if another vehicle had taken the spot that the autonomous car was able to go to. This fast processing is due to the 5G connection from LG U+, which this connection allowed the car to receive live information of traffic signals, locations of other cars, etc. For example, the self-driving car was able to receive formation from the traffic light systems, instead of using the color of the traffic lights to determine whether to stop or go.

With the creation and improvement of self-driving cars, we are able to reduce the possible car accidents that happen often. With the implementation of fast processing and calculation, the autonomous car would be able to quickly get out of dangerous situations that may end up as a car crash.

자율 주행 차 주차까지 모두 가능해지다!

100번의 테스트를 거쳐, LG유플러스와 한양대학교, 컨트롤웍스는 마침내 자율 주행, 주차 시스템을 가진 차 성능 실험에 성공했습니다. 본 테스트에서는, 운전자가 모바일 앱에서 주차 장소를 선택하고 지정할 수 있었고, 이 앱은 자율 주행하고 있는 차의 위치도 보여주었습니다. 주차를 완료한 후 이 앱은 운전자에게 차가 주차되었다는 확인 메시지도 보내 주었습니다.

이 자율 주행차는 운전자가 지정한 주차 공간에 다른 차가 주차했을 경우, 앱을 통해 운전자에게 빠르게 상황을 보고 하고, 운전자가 다른 공간을 지정할 수 있게 하는 기능도 있는데, 이런 기술이 가능해 진 것은, LG유플러스의 5G 연결기술을 통해 차량이 바로 교통신호와 다른 차량의 위치들을 파악할 수 있기 때문입니다.

이런 자율주행기술의 발달로, 우리는 이제 자율주행차의 교통사고 발생률을 줄일 수 있습니다. 정확한 정보 전달로 사고가 날 수 있는 상황에서 차량이 빠르게 빠져 나올 수 있기 때문입니다.
